The Third Annual NFLPA Players’ Survey & Club Report Cards

For years, players have wanted a resource that reflects their daily experiences and opinions about their workplace conditions. With that in mind, we launched the NFLPA Team Report Cards, a tool that has grown into a valuable resource for players.

  • Empowering Players: Players now have better insight into how their workplace compares across the league.

  • Driving Change: It appears several teams have taken player feedback seriously and have made real improvements.

  • Amplifying Advocacy: Our union is proud to provide this resource, which has led to tangible workplace improvements.

Building on the momentum from the first two years, we’re excited to see strong engagement. In our first year, we had a 60% league-wide response rate. Each of the last two years, we have seen a 77% response rate across the league. This year, a total of 1,695 players completed the report card survey, reinforcing how important it is to capture the true player experience.

What To Know In Year 3

We’re always working to make this resource even better. This year’s edition includes several enhancements:

  • Partnership with Artemis Strategy Group: Continuing our collaboration with this expert survey firm, we’ve fine-tuned the survey design, data collection, and analysis to provide even more meaningful insights.

  • Consistent Year-to-Year Comparisons: Keeping categories consistent from Year 2 to Year 3 makes it easier to track improvements in both overall grades and specific areas.

  • Deeper Dive into Data: We’ve added additional questions in certain areas to get a deeper understanding of player feedback.

  • Enhanced Table Functionality: Now, letter grades can be sorted within each category. For example, multiple B+ grades can be arranged from highest to lowest (or vice versa) based on preference.

It’s important to remember that while rankings can be insightful, the letter grades remain the best reflection of performance. A 14th-place ranking with a B+ is still a sign of a strong, player-focused environment.

Our Goals:

From the outset, this initiative has been guided by two core goals:

  • Keep Players Informed: With 32 different workplaces, even small details can impact players’ daily experiences. For those with the option to choose their team, knowing how others rate their workplace is invaluable.

  • Drive Improvement: The report cards highlight areas where players believe teams can do better, giving clubs actionable feedback to enhance facilities and support systems.

Our Vision:

Ultimately, our hope is that this initiative will:

  • Empower Players: Equip players with the information they need to make informed career decisions.

  • Inspire Action: Encourage players to share their experiences, showing that their feedback can drive real change.

We’re encouraged that it seems many teams have listened to player feedback and made positive changes. Players are noticing these efforts, and this year’s grades reflect their feedback.

A Broader Perspective

As you review this year’s results, it’s important to keep in mind that this report focuses solely on workplace conditions—it’s not about wins and losses on the field. By sharing these insights, we aim to highlight the many factors that shape players' daily work lives.

We hope these insights continue to inspire teams to take action, even on small changes that can significantly impact their players’ lives. Together, we’re striving to raising the bar for our union members.
