Financial Education Series: Protecting Yourself From Scams, Predatory Advisors, and Fraud

Scammers have a playbook, but a strong defense can anticipate tactics, recognize red flags, and build countermeasures to protect your finances, identity, and brand. On September 8th, the NFLPA is partnering with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to discuss the steps an athlete can take to protect their money from financial fraud, unscrupulous advisors, and threats that increasingly originate from online and social media sources. The SEC will highlight some of the most common athlete scams, including lessons learned from cases where professional athletes lost money to bogus investments. The webinar will also discuss the steps an athlete can take to vet investment professionals and investment opportunities.
