BALTIMORE’S NATE WIGGINS NAMED WEEK 5 NFLPA COMMUNITY MVP

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Nate Wiggins has been named the Week 5 NFLPA Community MVP after hosting a special event for breast cancer patients and survivors at M&T Bank Stadium through his “Wiggs For Warriors” campaign.

“I’m so honored to be named the NFLPA Community MVP,” the Baltimore Ravens cornerback said. “Growing up, I always knew that when I was in a position to help others, I would.”

As part of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Wiggins and the Ravens partnered with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the American Cancer Society to host an event that celebrated 35 breast cancer patients and survivors. Each woman received a human hair wig, donated by Wiggins’ Wiggs Worldwide Foundation, along with personalized wig cuts, styles and fittings from luxury stylists on site. They also enjoyed natural hair styling options, a VIP stadium tour and gift bags.

The event was part of Wiggins’ ongoing “Wiggs For Warriors” campaign, which aims to donate 200 wigs to those impacted by breast cancer in both his hometown of Atlanta and his team city of Baltimore. Wiggins is just the third rookie in NFLPA history to be selected as a Community MVP in the program’s 11-year history.

As part of the “Wiggs For Warriors” initiative, Wiggins’ foundation has also hosted weekly walks to raise awareness and promote healthy habits. Additionally, he is organizing a Living Well Expo later this month at the Atlanta recreation center where he grew up, offering free wellness activities such as yoga, meditation, health screenings, wig and hair styling, manicures, food and fun activities.

“Giving back, especially to my hometown, is important to me because I understand the difference it can make,” Wiggins said. “The ‘Wiggs For Warriors’ campaign is just one way I can support those in need, and it motivates me to continue finding ways to make a positive impact in my community.”

Since his college days at Clemson, Wiggins has prioritized community outreach, leading him to launch the Wiggs Worldwide Foundation in 2023. The foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of young people by supporting underprivileged communities globally.

In the past few months, Wiggins hosted his second back-to school event and donated 10 laptops to students in need; held his first "Leave Your Leg2cy" free youth football camp for 150 kids; and partnered with The United Way to bring 20 at-risk youth to the Ravens training camp.

In recognition of Wiggins being named the NFLPA Community MVP for Week 5, the NFLPA will donate $10,000 to his foundation or charity of choice. Wiggins will also take part in a special visit to a local school, children’s hospital or community center. Along with the other 2024-25 Community MVPs, he will be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, the NFLPA’s highest player honor, which includes an additional $100,000 donation.

For its 11th season, the Community MVP program is teaming up with two supporting partners: Young Minds Inspired (YMI) and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA). As the nation's leading provider of free educational outreach programs, YMI will bring this year’s NFLPA Community MVPs to classrooms across the country will feature this year's NFLPA Community MVPs through a series of lesson plans about community service, inspired by the players' philanthropic work and the program's artwork created by Heartlent Group. Established in 1956, the NFLPA has a long history of assuring proper recognition and representation of players’ interests. The NFLPA has shown that it will do whatever is necessary to assure that the rights of players are protected—including ceasing to be a union, if necessary, as it did in 1989. In 1993, the NFLPA again was officially recognized as the union representing the players and negotiated a landmark Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NFL. The current CBA will govern the sport through the 2030 NFL season. Learn more at www.nflpa.com
