NFLPA’s Professional Athletes Foundation Honored with City of Oakland Proclamation at Annual Painting with the Pros Event
Oakland, CA. — On Thursday, the NFL Players Association’s Professional Athletes Foundation (PAF) was honored with a proclamation from the City of Oakland during its annual Painting with the Pros event, held in partnership with Oakland Technical High School.
The proclamation, presented in coordination with Oakland Tech High School and the Office of Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, recognized the collective efforts of community leaders and organizations committed to youth engagement, creativity and mentorship through the arts.
The PAF proclamation was accepted by Andre Collins, executive cirector of the PAF. Additional proclamations were presented to the Fam1st Family Foundation—founded by Marshawn Lynch, Josh Johnson, and Marcus Peters—and to Oakland Technical High School’s Fashion, Art, & Design Academy (FADA).
“It's important for the PAF to do community outreach, especially during the Super Bowl,” Collins said. “It allows the hardworking and talented students to feel like they were a part of the weekend. And our former players and active players make the event memorable.”
As part of the ceremony, a commendation from the City of Oakland was read on behalf of Mayor Barbara Lee, acknowledging the impact of the Painting with the Pros program and its partners:
“Thank you for cultivating creativity, mentorship, and self-expression with the students of Oakland Technical High School’s Fashion, Art and Design Academy. Your activities celebrate the importance of arts, culture, and creativity as essential aspects to the lives of our youth and our whole community. Thank you for contributing to the broader economic, athletic, educational, and experiential opportunities that impact long-term community growth and self-sustainability. We are inspired by your dedicated work and leadership focused on youth engagement and positive outcomes for Oakland, the Bay Area, and beyond.”
Painting with the Pros has been the PAF’s Super Bowl weekend philanthropic event since 2017. This event brings together active and former players to cultivate creativity, mentorship and self-expression with local high school students while engaging in a guided art activity.
