Before January 2, most knew Damar Hamlin as an emerging, talented safety for the Buffalo Bills.

Since that day, when he suffered in-game cardiac arrest, he has received support from all over the world as he embarks on his journey for recovery. Along the way, people have come to know Hamlin for who he really is – a fighter; a devoted family member, friend and teammate; a servant leader who has impacted hundreds of kids in his hometown of Pittsburgh; and our Week 18 NFLPA Community MVP.

“Reverend Barber has been a voice for equality, justice, faith and hope for millions of Americans. When we connected in the aftermath of the traumatic injury suffered by Damar Hamlin, we were both moved by the unity on display not only by Bills and Bengals players, but by NFL players across our league and everyone in our community.

"His prayer today is in the spirit of that unity and how our membership – also working Americans – brought our nation and our world together in the most challenging moments. I want to thank Reverend Barber for his leadership, for his service to those in need and above all, for his prayer today, which I know will uplift so many on this last NFL Sunday of the regular season.”
