DeMaurice Smith to Participate in the United Nations Youth Leadership Programme's Opening Ceremony

Dignitaries, athletes, and international game changers join Global Action Initiatives for an Olympic style celebration to kickoff the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) Youth Leadership Programme’s International Sport & Social Impact Summit. NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith will be in attendance for the opening ceremony, which will feature music, dance, and a unique parade of nations with performances by the NFL Players Gospel Choir and American Idol’s Sam Wolfe and Elliott Yamin.

Joining Smith in attendance will be Nick Bollettierie (International Tennis Hall of Fame Awardee), Declan Farmer (U.S. National Sled Hockey Team; Paralympic 2x Medalist, ESPY Award Winner), Mark Everett (World Champion and Olympic track star), Shellie Pfohl (Executive Director, President’s Council on Fitness), Bobby Sager (philanthropist, global distributor of the Hope Ball), Elias Sosa (MLB Latin American Development Director), Ruth Riley (Olympic gold medalist, former WNBA player and its MVP, national champion Notre Dame), April Holmes (Paralympian gold medalist and first female signed to Air Jordan brand), Gary Hall Sr. (holder of ten Olympic swimming medals), Warren Moon (Hall of Fame NFL Quarterback) and Carrie Zimmerman (Olympic gymnast).

The event will take place later today, Monday, June 8th, at 4PM at the Bradenton Area Convention Center in Palmetto, Florida.
