NFLPA Names Matt Taylor as Chief Communications Officer

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) today announced that Matt Taylor will join the organization as Chief Communications Officer, effective September 8.
Taylor brings extensive experience across professional sports, media, strategic communications, and reputation management. Throughout his career, he has advised organizations facing complex, high-profile challenges and has held communications leadership roles across both professional and collegiate athletics.
"Matt brings a unique combination of communications expertise, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of the football landscape," NFLPA Executive Director JC Tretter said. "His perspective and experience will help us communicate more clearly and more consistently, ensuring players better understand the value of their union and the work being done on their behalf every day."
Most recently, Taylor served as a Vice President at Heller, a leading strategic communications firm, where he advised clients navigating complex issues across a range of industries. Prior to Heller, he held communications leadership roles across the NFL, college athletics and the media industry, including leading football communications for the Miami Dolphins. He has also served in communications positions in the front offices of the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders. On the collegiate side, he led strategic communications efforts for the University of Maryland football program.
As Chief Communications Officer, Taylor will lead the NFLPA's communications strategy, helping the union strengthen engagement with players, enhance internal and external communications, and support the organization's broader priorities.
"The NFLPA plays a critical role in advocating for NFL players, and I am honored to join the organization in that mission. I look forward to leveraging my experience and relationships for the benefit of our members, showcasing the value and strength of our union to our membership and the broader football world,” Taylor said.
Taylor will work across the organization to support the NFLPA's mission of protecting players' rights, advancing their interests, and delivering the resources, benefits, and opportunities secured through collective action.
