Denver’s Trent Sherfield Named Week 4 NFLPA Community MVP
Washington D.C. – Trent Sherfield has been selected as the Week 4 NFL Players Association (NFLPA) Community MVP after helping provide essential baby items for Denver families in need.
Sherfield, alongside his wife and two children, personally helped distribute diapers, wipes, baby food and formula during a donation event held in partnership with WeeCycle, Colorado’s largest diaper bank.
“I’m truly honored to be recognized as the Week 4 NFLPA Community MVP -- this isn’t something I take lightly,” the Denver Broncos wide receiver said. “As a follower of Jesus Christ, I believe I’m called to serve others and give back in gratitude for all that has been given to me.”
Nearly one in two families in Colorado are experiencing diaper need, according to WeeCycle. The nonprofit works to recycle essential baby gear and match it with underserved families, and Sherfield’s support helped expand their impact during September’s Diaper Awareness Week.
Since entering the NFL in 2018, Sherfield has consistently demonstrated a commitment to giving back to his team cities while also remaining deeply connected to his roots. He founded the Diamonds Amongst the Rough (DATR) Foundation, which is dedicated to empowering youth in his hometown of Danville, Illinois by providing access to new opportunities and exposing them to transformative experiences.
“My heart is to make sure the next generation has the resources and opportunities I didn’t have growing up,” Sherfield said. “This recognition is a reminder to keep pushing forward and continue that mission.”
Earlier this year, the DATR Foundation hosted its inaugural gala, which brought the community together for a night of celebration and raised nearly $95,000 toward the creation of a sports and performance center for the youth of Danville. The evening was preceded by a celebrity charity basketball game at Sherfield’s alma mater high school, further underscoring his passion for uplifting the place where his journey began.
In addition to these efforts, the foundation has organized several other community events, including a toy drive & back-to-school drive that provided gifts and essential school supplies to local children in need, as well as a free, annual football camp that offers skill development, mentorship and a take-home meal for underserved kids in Danville and its surrounding areas.
Sherfield becomes the second Broncos player to receive Community MVP honors this season, joining his teammate Garett Bolles who was selected as an NFLPA Community MVP in Week 1.
In recognition of Sherfield being named NFLPA Community MVP for Week 4, the NFL Players Association will donate $10,000 to his nonprofit of choice. Along with the other Community MVPs from this season, Sherfield will also be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, which is the NFLPA’s highest player honor and includes an additional $100,000 donation.
