Indianapolis' Laquon Treadwell Selected as Week 7 NFLPA Community MVP
Washington, D.C. — Laquon Treadwell has been named the Week 7 NFLPA Community MVP after hosting a special mother-daughter “high tea” experience in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event celebrated breast cancer survivors and their daughters while recognizing his foundation’s latest “Laquon’s Leaders in Training” recipient.
“Winning NFLPA Community MVP means everything to me because I know firsthand how much it means to have someone believe in you,” Treadwell said. “Football gave me a platform and using it to change lives and give the next generation hope is my true purpose. I am incredibly honored and committed to continuing to lead the way in the community.”
The Indianapolis Colts wide receiver and his wife, Victoria, through their Lead the Way Foundation, teamed up with breast cancer support organization, Indiana Women in Need, to treat attendees to a luncheon featuring an etiquette lesson, a custom jewelry station and an opportunity to share their personal journeys. The event concluded with professional family photos and gift bags personally provided by the Treadwells.
Among the guests of honor was 14-year-old Kayla, who was recognized as the third recipient of Laquon's Leaders in Training (LLIT) honor. The program recognizes five youth from local nonprofits who go above and beyond in their communities. When Kayla's grandmother was facing financial and physical hardships, Kayla stepped up to care for her siblings and took on additional responsibilities for her family. To recognize Kayla's leadership and selflessness, Treadwell surprised her with a commemorative award, Lead the Way merchandise and two tickets to the Colts' final home game of the season.
This event was the latest in the Lead the Way Foundation’s Fall 2026 Community Giveback Initiative. The campaign kicked off with a back-to-school event, where the first LLIT recipient received a shopping spree for new clothes and school supplies. Last month, Treadwell visited Peyton Manning Children's Hospital and surprised the second LLIT recipient at the Boys & Girls Club with new shoes. He also spent time reading to students and treating them to ice cream.
Launched in 2023, the Lead the Way Foundation supports underserved youth in Treadwell's hometown of Chicago, as well as Indianapolis and Dallas. Through signature annual events including a Thanksgiving turkey drive, a "Shop with a Jock" holiday gifting event and a celebrity softball tournament, the foundation is committed to providing opportunities, resources and meaningful experiences to the families in these communities.
Since his rookie year in 2016 with the Minnesota Vikings, Treadwell has remained committed to giving back to the communities that have supported him. During his time in Minnesota, Treadwell regularly volunteered at St. Joseph's Home for Children and visited local elementary schools to provide financial assistance and mentorship to local students.
In honor of Treadwell being named the Week 7 NFLPA Community MVP and to further support his off-field impact, the NFLPA will donate $10,000 to Lead the Way Foundation. Additionally, Treadwell and the rest of this season’s Community MVPs will be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, which is the NFLPA’s highest player honor for outstanding community service and includes an additional $100,000 donation.
For the second year in a row, the NFLPA is partnering with GoFundMe, the world’s leading fundraising platform, allowing fans to support players’ community efforts and through their selected nonprofits. Back for its 13th season, the NFLPA’s award-winning Community MVP program serves as a driving force behind the union’s commitment to highlight the year-round civic outreach and community engagement of its player members. Community MVPs are selected by a committee of NFLPA staff that reviews the nominees submitted each week by players, agents, marketing representatives and NFL team staff.
