Philadelphia's Michael Carter II Selected as Week 8 NFLPA Community MVP
Washington, D.C. — Michael Carter II has been named the Week 8 NFLPA Community MVP after hosting Baby Shower on the Block, a free community maternal and infant health event for pregnant and postpartum mothers enrolled in Medicaid.
“Being named the NFLPA Community MVP means everything to me,” Carter said. “Maternal health is not talked about enough, especially in communities where families are already navigating so much. Baby Shower on the Block was about meeting moms where they are -- with real resources, real information and real support. This recognition belongs to every family who showed up and every partner who made it possible."
The Philadelphia Eagles cornerback and his nonprofit, The Michael Carter II Foundation, welcomed more than 100 community members, including 40 expectant and new mothers and their families. The event featured two educational panels, one focused on mental health and prenatal and maternal care, followed by another centered on fatherhood. Carter served as a panelist, highlighting the important role fathers play in supporting healthy pregnancies and early childhood development. Attendees also received essential supplies including car seats, pack 'n plays and diapers as well as a health education plan to support ongoing care coordination.
Baby Shower on the Block is an ongoing initiative within the foundation's Maternal Health Program, which aims to address barriers to maternal and infant healthcare. In July, Carter brought the initiative to his home state of Georgia, where he and his wife, Alli, a labor and delivery nurse, shared their journey into parenthood and helped lead educational discussions with maternal health experts. The couple donated more than 3,000 diapers to Georgia mothers in need. This year alone, the Michael Carter II Foundation has provided more than 15,000 supplies through three Baby Shower on the Block events.
Beyond maternal health, the charity also supports youth development and community safety initiatives. In January, it donated $5,000 to the varsity basketball team at South Paulding High School, Carter's alma mater. In April, Carter hosted a two-day activation in Atlanta, partnering with local first responders to assemble 600 trauma kits designed to help protect children during emergency calls.
Established in November 2025 by Carter in partnership with his parents, Donna and Michael Carter Sr., The Michael Carter II Foundation is rooted in family, faith and service. Guided by its five core pillars — physical, mental, social, financial and spiritual wellness—the nonprofit is committed to expanding access to opportunities, experiences and resources for those in their communities who need it most.
In honor of Carter being named the Week 8 NFLPA Community MVP and to further support his off-field impact, the NFLPA will donate $10,000 to The Michael Carter II Foundation. Additionally, Carter and the rest of this season’s Community MVPs will be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, which is the NFLPA’s highest player honor for outstanding community service and includes an additional $100,000 donation.
For the second year in a row, the NFLPA is partnering with GoFundMe, the world’s leading fundraising platform, allowing fans to support players’ community efforts and through their selected nonprofits. Back for its 13th season, the NFLPA’s award-winning Community MVP program serves as a driving force behind the union’s commitment to highlight the year-round civic outreach and community engagement of its player members. Community MVPs are selected by a committee of NFLPA staff that reviews the nominees submitted each week by players, agents, marketing representatives and NFL team staff.
