Tennessee’s Jeffery Simmons Named Week 17 NFLPA Community MVP
Washington, D.C. – Jeffery Simmons has been selected as the Week 17 NFL Players Association (NFLPA) Community MVP after hosting a week-long series of impactful initiatives that uplifted local youth through mentorship, resources and opportunities.
“I’m honored to be named the NFLPA Community MVP,” the Tennessee Titans defender said. “This recognition reflects the incredible work that is being done in our amazing community. I’m grateful to continue to use my platform to be a light in my community.”
On December 16, Simmons welcomed four high school seniors from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee to Men’s Wearhouse, where each student received a custom-tailored suit to support milestone moments ahead, including prom, college interviews and signing days. The experience was designed to not only prepare the students with professional attire, but also with encouragement and a sense of belief as they take the next step in their academic journeys. Simmons spent time connecting with each student, offering life advice while teaching them how to tie their new ties.
The suit-shopping experience marked Simmons’ third community event in a seven-day span. The week prior, the Pro Bowl defensive lineman hosted 20 Big Brothers Big Sisters matches at Academy Sports + Outdoors, providing each child with $400 to shop for apparel, gear and essentials of their choice.
Simmons also made a surprise visit to Hunter Lane High School earlier that day and donated $5,000 to sponsor its girls’ flag football team through his Give ‘Em a Reason, foundation. The funds will cover their uniforms, equipment, fees and transportation.
This marks the second time Simmons has earned NFLPA Community MVP honors. He was previously recognized during Week 12 of the 2023 season after gifting more than 500 Nashville families with turkeys for Thanksgiving.
Simmons’ consistent off-field presence has made him a source of inspiration throughout his Nashville community since being drafted by the Titans in 2019. By showing up week after week, he continues to prioritize mentorship, access and encouragement for young people navigating pivotal moments in their lives.
Simmons has also remained deeply connected to his roots. Each year, he returns to his hometown of Macon, Mississippi to host a Community Fun Day that brings families together for flag football games, food trucks, bounce houses, face painting and fireworks. The city’s mayor also presented Simmons with the first-ever key to the city, honoring his continued investment and lasting impact on the community.
In recognition of McCloud being named NFLPA Community MVP for Week 16, the NFL Players Association will donate $10,000 to his nonprofit of choice. Along with the other Community MVPs from this season, he will also be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, which is the NFLPA’s highest player honor and includes an additional $100,000 donation.
As part of a new supporting partnership with GoFundMe, fans can now also make a donation directly to the Give 'Em A Reason foundation here. All donations are tax-deductible and will go directly to the player's selected nonprofit.
Now in its 12th season, the NFLPA’s award-winning Community MVP campaign is part of the union’s continued efforts to support the year-round civic outreach and engagement of its player members. Community MVPs are selected by a committee of NFLPA staff that reviews the weekly nominees, which are submitted by players, agents, marketing representatives and NFL team staff.
